Superior Service

Superior Windmill,

I am very impressed with the service you and Superior Windmills has provided with my windmill purchase.

The bolts I contacted you about on Monday were sitting on my desk when I arrived at my office this morning. Due to your prompt service, I will be able to complete the windmill project this weekend.

The best companies are those who provide excellent service both before and after the purchase, which you have exhibited.

Your prompt response to my emails pertaining to questions about your product was one of the key factors in determining which manufacturer I chose to provide my windmill.

Sincerely,
John Wright

Superior Windmill Works in Winter

We got our windmill aeration system set up a couple of weeks after receiving it from you. Last week it was -17 below and the lakes were all froze up around here. Despite the cold temperatures our lake had two openings in them at all times.

The wind has been blowing ever since. We had winds over 80 miles per/hour that did a lot damage around our area but none to the windmill. My partner are I are very very pleased with the windmill. It is doing an exceptional job. Thanks for all your help on the phone and selling us what we needed. It was a lot easier to assemble than I thought it would be and we were missing no parts at all. I would recommend this windmill to anyone that is in need of one. It simply works great.

Thanks again dean and partner don.

ps. I sent you a few pictures of the lake and windmill. I am sure all the fish we put into the lake are still alive. We were amazed how little of a breeze it takes to turn the mill.

Letter from a customer

Superior Windmill,

We installed our Superior Windmill about 3 years ago and it has been
working great. This summer we had a heat wave and thank goodness for our windmill aerator.

Our neighbor, who also has a fish pond, experienced a massive fish kill due to this extremely hot weather and the fact that he was not aerating his pond. Our Superior Windmill aeration system kept our fish healthy and well.

I am looking out at our pond right now and see the fish jumping.
Thanks again for a great product.

Regards,

Testimonial from Henry Miller

Superior Windmill,

Both my Dad and I bought Superior Windmill Aeration Systems about 3 years ago and they have been incredible. They keep our ponds open during the winter months and clean and healthy in the Summer months.

The aeration is also helping us produce some pretty large blue gill. Whenever I want to catch a big blue gill I simply cast into the oxygen bubbles and I usually am able to pull out a large one.

Remembering back to when we installed these units back in January of 05 – my 18 year old daughter and I assembled them and put them up by ourselves. We found it quite easy and enjoyable even in the January weather of Indiana.

Once again thank you from both my father and I for a great product.

Questions and Answers about Superior Windmills

Q1. Given that our water level fluctuates from season to season, is there an ideal depth for the diffusers?

A. The air diffusers should be located in the deeper areas of the pond – they will not be affected by the fluctuations of water levels.

Q2. Given that we will have some sedimentation over time, how do we prevent the diffusers from being buried?

A. The air diffusers are placed into 5 gallon buckets and you put gravel in the bottom of the bucket and the air diffuser on to. The bucket keeps the air diffuser off the bottom of the pond and it remains nice and clean. The air diffusers that we use are industrial strength self cleaning air diffuser so you should not have to worry about this. You attach a rope to the bucket and a rope with a buoy that floats on the water. you simply sink the bucket with the air diffuser in it to the bottom of the pond.

Q3. How do we know, at any point in time, if a diffuser is operating properly?

A. These air diffuser produce a lot of oxygen bubbles that shoot up through the water – when the wind is going you will see a large amount of bubbles – similar to a hot tub coming up to the surface of the water where ever you have the air diffusers placed. You will know if they are not working.

Q4. How much wind is optimal for operating the fan blades? How much is too much? Can they be turned off in extremely windy weather? Should they be?

A. The windmills will operate in very low winds, as low as 3-5MPH and right up to almost 30MPH – the windmill is on a swivel head bearing set that allows it to track the wind and move itself out of the wind once the winds approach the 30MPH threshold. You do not have to turn on or off anything – these units are self operational. If a hurricane or Tornado is coming through you can always tilt the windmill down but other than that you have nothing to be concerned with.

Q5. How many hours per day/days per year should the diffusers be operating?

A. Depending on your winds the windmills will operate for a number of hours per day – 365 days per/yr. Some seasons more than others but at the end of the day they will provide your pond with ongoing aeration in order to provide it with additional levels of oxygen commonly required to help improve the health of ponds today.

Q6. Should the system be operating in the winter, when we’re most likely to
have fresh water entering the pond?

A. The windmill should be operating all year long and is built to operate in very cold and very hot temperatures. In the winter it keeps an area of the pond open so that the pond can vent. This is healthy for the pond and any fish that are in it. Dramatically reduces any possibility of fish kill.

Q7. How far away from the pond should the tower be positioned?

A. The windmill can be as far as 1000 ft from the pond. Look for an elevated or open area within this distance that attracts the majority of your wind.

Superior Windmill in the NEWS

Farm and Ranch Marketplace – Sept 2007

Farmers or ranchers who have stagnant ponds or dugouts know how expensive it is to treat their way out of the problem. That is all the more reason they are looking at windmill based aeration to oxygenate ponds and dugouts while also inducing circulation in order to avoid thermal stratification of the water and prevent stagnation.

The Farm and Ranch Marketplace article goes on to talk about how Superior Windmill produces various windmill types that compress air and pumps it through one or more air diffusers that are located at the deeper areas of the pond. It also talks about the benefits of aeration, such as improving the circulation of the water and preventing algae, weeds, and unwanted insects such as mosquitoes.

DakotaFest Edition – Tri State Neighbor – Aug 3-2007

Windmill Driven Aeration Revitalizes Stock Ponds

Wind Powered air system oxygenates water, overcoming dilemmas of stagnation and stratification that threaten people, livestock, wildlife, and property values.

The article in this issue of Tri State Neighbor reviews the functionality of Superior Windmill and indicates that Superior Windmill is one of the world’s only manufacturer of Windmill Aeration Systems.

The article goes on to detail the fact that Superior Windmill uses self sealed bearing sets in its turbine to increase life expectancy, and heavy duty crankshaft and connecting rods to provide, reliability, smooth running and low maintenance.

There are very few moving parts in the Superior Windmill design where airflow is produced using molded rubber diaphragms. Air is drawn in on the down stroke and on the upstroke air is compressed into an air line and out through air diffusers located in the deeper areas of the pond.

Fish Farming News by Ed Sullivan

As every fish farmer knows, problems of stagnation, stratification and harmful biologicals create water conditions in ponds and other non-free flowing water that have to be addressed via treatment and/or aeration.

Aeration, however, requires power and that adds cost to the fish farmers’s bottom line. But what about installing a relatively low cost, windmill driven aeration system? Some farmers are finding this to be a green cost effective option.

Superior Windmill offers 12 Ft – 20 Ft Tower heights with hub and compressor pre-installed at the factory for ease of installation. Depending on the model selected, volumes of airflow produced range from 1.5 CFM to 3 CFM @ 9 MPH.

Superior Windmill Aeration Systems help clean and circulate water using wind power. Windmill aerators are ideal for for water aeration, including ponds, lakes, dugouts, golf course ponds, farm ponds and fish hatcheries.
