Air Revitalizes Stagnant Ponds
Superior Windmills has a windmill system to pump compressed air through diffusers installed at the bottom of a pond. Air bubbling up from the bottom aerates and agitates the water to prevent growth of algae, blue green algae and weeds. Superior says that aeration also prevents odors and pests, and inhibits the spread and growth of mosquito larvae. Windmills sit on the dry ground, with hoses going to the pond. Superior has models with 12, 16, and 20 ft stands. You can set up with one air diffuser and a single diaphragm air pump that produces 1.5 CFM of air, or two air diffusers and a dual diaphragm air pump that adds 3 CFM in total. With two air diffusers you may also opt to replace one air diffuser with a pump, so you can aerate the dugout and pump water into a cattle watering trough at the same time. Complete kits range in price from $ 975 to $ 1799 US - depending on the model.
